Registration Steps
Each year, officials must complete the registration process for each of the national and state governing bodies that they wish to be eligible to officiate games for. Below are the details of the registration processes for each of these governing bodies.
USA Hockey - National Governing Body - Youth and Adult Hockey
WHOA - Wisconsin Hockey Officials Association - USA Hockey State Affiliate
WIAA - State Governing Body - High School Hockey

USA Hockey
To officiate USA Hockey games, you must register with both USA Hockey and WHOA.
2024-25 Season USA Hockey registration overview:
Register as an official at the USA Hockey Membership Page
Register for and attend a USA Hockey virtual officiating seminar
You must register for a seminar at the same level as your USA Hockey officiating registration
You can attend a virtual seminar from any state or district
Complete SafeSport Training online (2007 birth year or older)
Complete a USA Hockey background check (18 years old or older on June 1, 2024)
Official's registration ends on October 31, 2024
All requirements must be complete by December 31, 2024
Wisconsin Hockey Officials Association (WHOA)
To officiate USA Hockey games in Wisconsin, officials must register with WHOA

WIAA
To officiate High School games (WIAA), you must register with the WIAA.
2024-25 Season WIAA registration overview:
Follow the instructions on the WIAA web site.
Your WIAA registration status will be updated in the DCHOA web site within a few days. If your status is not updated, notify the DCHOA Registrar, who will confirm your WIAA registration status and update the DCHOA database.
WIAA games begin in late November. DCHOA starts WIAA game assigning in October.
